Deewhy sunrise

Persistance pays off. Despite my reluctance, I was encouraged by Gerry to get out to Deewhy. While it wasn't spectacular, I thought it was still worth it...

This place is well worth during 1m tides (which were coming in). You should try and avoid any torrential rain like we did.

For your C&C.

I like the colour and mood set in the first two Suren. Nice movement in the water as well.
For some reason three does not grab me in the same way.

My preference is the first as it seems most balanced. There is too much rock occuppying the image in number two and the third doesn't grab me as much. I do love the skies.

I like #1 the best as well - composition is very nice (although based on Gerry's and all my own shots it almost looks too light (the bottom half)?)

I remember #2 - thats where you waved my daughter and I over saying this is a great spot - stand here - only for us to get waved :) - at least this time is was kept to below our knees :)

I'm not feeling #3 either - is the horizon tilting slightly to the right?

Just like sheep follow the leader, I too am going to say that the first is the pick here, lovely cool tones which make for a refreshing change. Composition of this one is also very strong, 2nd & 3rd images are less so.

The first image is the pick for me Suren, I am not sure if it is because of the pano crop or the actual exposure and water movement! however it works and rings a note with me more so that the others.

It can be very difficult to nail the movement of the water and I reckon you have chosen the correct shutter speeds for 1 and 2, I think alot of peeps out there dont realise its more than just pointing the camera at a wave and hitting the shutter release :rotfl2:

Upon a second look, I think the second one could also work as a pano crop? There could also be a vertical portrait orientation in there as well, there is a good amount of sky and enough foreground that it may work!

On a side note, I find that nailing compositions for a standard 6x4 ratio quite challenging, the pano style always seems to be a winner and look better, even if the composition is not as strong. I wonder whether its just a trick of teh mind whereby one thinks 6x4 standard happy snap format and teh pano is alittle exotic and tickles the fancy ends of the brain?! anyway I digress :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone. I do agree the #1 has more pleasing (and matching colors) tones. Ironically it was a test shot!

#2 was a brilliant spot but I couldn't get the waves etc line up correctly.

I was keen to call the copter.... There was a distinct lack of birds in the sky.

It is quite difficult to figure out what to use! I reckon it's the frequency and the speed of the wave as well as the amplitude. If one wave is dampened by the other going out, it's quite confusing.

I think this may have to do with the fact that our eyes (or brains) may see in pano?? Not sure.
I am now using the extra megapixels to frame my pictures for pano when I take them. Much more convenient than stitching which is tricky with waves.
