This fellow visited the house today. He/she hung around for a few hours making it's way nearly all the way around the house back to where it satrted it's trip. It got a agitated when I started poking a lens in front of it but stayed in the one spot long enough for me to get some shots with the 24-70 then change to the 105 micro.

This shot is a pretty heavy crop. Does it work?

I was a bit limited in the angle from which I could shoot, is the composition ok?

It's all in the eyes, and you have captured its gaze in #1 beautifully. I am not sure if I would have poked a lens at it, but you have done yourself some proud here!

Thanks Cameron. The first one is a fairly heavy crop with the camera about 500-600mm away from the snake. He was showing the blue flecks on the body which indicate he is a little disturbed, but being a non venomous Common Tree Snake it tends to make me fairly relaxed.

I like them both, but as mentioned the eyes in number one really sells the shot.

#1 is brilliant! Great eye contact. You'd wish that you had that nose also in focus but you have done exceedingly well to even capture any of these pictures!

#2 I like this composition.

 Were you letting it run rampant while you made coffee and perhaps cooked dinner??
In my limited experience the main worry is when they dissapear into the house......
