Yes I'm trying it again with another tree.
Trying to perfext my stark empty feel.

Just looks out of focus to me.
Also the tree is in bud which argues against the feel you are looking for.

Glad you said that, Just had eye surgery, my eyes are not back to normal yet, I was getting worried when I saw this :D

As above, it looks and it is out of focus so I encourage you to keep trying.
Here are some ideas:
* Feel the frame with your subject picking the interesting parts.
* Avoid unnecessary empty space, my eyes find more interesting the sky than the tree
* Try a different angle and perhaps a different crop - square?
* Increase your F stops to get a wider field
