Instead of using the wide angle I ended up using the 70-200. Yesterday at Avalon:

Can I note that the horizons need a bit of a bump...and I would also increase the contrast a bit so you get solid silhouette....very nicely done though

And if you're using something like Lightroom I'd probably apply the contrast only to the bottom part of the image (water and below) (using the gradient tool) so that you don't end up with banding in the sky?

Did you add the vignette at the top or is that a la naturale?

This is probably because of the filter sitting on the horizon line.

This is the natural vignetting from the 70-200.

I used quite a lot on my last trip for landscape, more than the 17-35.
I'll go back to these and see what more contrast will do.

I think the first is the stronger because of the position of the paddler but think a a fairly heavy pano crop would be nice. the colour is amazing.
