UK trip

Have been away for a few weeks attending a family wedding and touring a bit of the homeland. Here are a few of the 2000 images taken along the way.

#1 - We were actually quite fortunate and had really good weather while we were in the UK, very little rain all told. This was a rather broody sky but it did remain dry. This shot was taken in Essex near Mountnessing.

#2 - This one is of Didcot power station in Oxfordshire.

Image

#3 - This is a village in Cumbria called Hilltop, and is where Beatrix Potter wrote her Peter Rabbit books.

Image

#4 - This shot also in Cumbria is looking back towards Lake Windmere. The official name of the road is Kirkstone Pass, but is nicknamed "The Struggle" due to the incline

First in great - I like the composition.

Last is a nice picture but looks a little dull - have you played with curves/contrast?

I really like the first image, as well as good composition there is great contrast between the golden hues and the sinister skies, both visually and metaphorically, it makes you think!

Very strong composition in #2 as well, is there anything that can be recovered in the shadow? It could do with a bit of a lift, I would also have a play with saturation so see if you can get something with a bit more punch. Good as it is, but there may be some potential to play if your inclined.

#3 and #4 could do with a lift in contrast/curves, they are looking a bit dull, #4 especially.

Looks like you had fun whilst you were over there!

I also like the first. It has a great mood and the contrast btween sky and foreground makes it.

Thanks for the feedback gents. They all look a little dull here, on both my PC and iPad, yet when looking at the original images on my PC, all look OK.......maybe the image host is doing something strange?

Hope you have not been caught up in the riots there Craig. Safe trip home, the long haul flight was the least enjoyable thing of the trip for me!

I only arrived in London yesterday and all now seems to be quiet. I will be heading home from Sunday by, Eurostar to Paris for 3 days, then flight through to Singapore where I have a 2 day stopover. Makes the journey home more manageble.
