My B+W ND10 had been exposed to too much salt....there is green stuff growing on the ring.....

ONLY KIDDING!

levitating rock....straight out of camera

I am seriously going to have to go with the hand grad....stacked grads + ND10 gives me too much cast and the gradation is too strong in the wrong place! Lets not mention the vignette on the LHS due to the angled holder

with neither ND10 nor green stuff

Hi Cam,

Compositionally I'm not a huge fan of #1 - there's just something missing

#2 I think is much stronger (and I like how those rocks lead off in a zigzag way towards the top right corner) and I believe I like the lower POV (which I think would have been better for #1 as well). With #2 however I reckon the hero rock needs to be darker (that bright highlight on the left side isn't so great) - ideally the rock would have rotated so the green is facing towards us :)

Cameron, I think the levitating rock image is outstanding. The 4th is also a great image. In fact, I like them all but especially the first. It does look surreal.

Thanks Rodney, I had to move from my original perch as I almost got wiped out by a wave, so #2 was taken from a safer position. Let me know if you figure out what is missing in #1 though.

Just for the heck of it, try turning the first upside down, makes for an interesting abstract.

Great shots.

Cameron, that last image is nicely composed frame and rings a note with me. The simple composition and almost minimalist scene coupled with the few elements really works. You definietly need to click thru for a sharper version.... these simple, uncomplicated images are often the winners in many peoples eyes and work well on corporate walls.

Possibly cropping some sky to take it to pano style might be an option to make it a stronger image?

#3 needs another element, its relying on the ND effect to make it pop, which is OK, however I always try and look at a image and visualise it without the effect and it should still have some shazang to it, which in this case without the effect it would be a bit bland, possibly recomposing with more landside in the frame may have helped balance the composition.

yep, that makes for a much stronger image imo, even with the horizon smack in the middle.

ahh but it still works - a good example of breaking rules when required since it works well.

I agree. Rules are for the unadventurous.
