I attended an Eddie Soloway lecture on Sunday, info here http://dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=41407&p=432390#p432390 and as a result produced the following image using some of the techniques he describes.

I can't beleive that not so long ago I upgraded all my glass for better IQ and here I am using lenses costing me thousands of dollars to shoot out of focus

after 4 beers that image takes on another world of perspective.

Its a nice shot but outta focus

righto, jokes aside, I don't mind it. That said I think it still needs a bit more spark to bring it up to a wow status.

What I do like, the pastel colours and the unrecognisable shapes but your watermark blows it out of teh water

I look forward to seeing a few more of this style.

It looks really good...watermark aside.

Think of it this way, a cheaper lens may not have the same bokeh!

Still not convinced with the 'style' of photography but will explore further and see what evolves.

The shapeless red dominates without giving
the brain a clue of what might be. It would
have worked for me if the red shapes had a
vague, but recognisable shapes.

The subject is a Lilly Pilly bush with young leaf growth (the red colouring) and back lit with the late afternoon sun.

I have had another go at this today and you would not believe how difficult it is to get an acceptable out of focus shot!

Here is another which I think has more appeal than the first, what do you think?

Lets call it a variation on a theme, but
I like the colours.

I really like the second one - it is something I can imagine being used for a perfume commercial. For me it induces images of a daffodil garden with an iris thrown - spring - has a warmth about it...quite charming =)

They are not out of focus. They are 'abstract'.
