Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

The ColasseumSome of the hazzards we had on our recent trip were the high contrast during the day (temps were unseasonally 30 -34 each day), hazy conditions, the ever present tourists in multitudes standing in the way, plus being on a time schedule with only one off opportunities in many cases.
I found the colasseum particularly difficult and these are about the best I could come up with on the day. Comments welcome: The tourists are starting to cue. A section where the morning light was hitting under the arches Inside looking back aware from the sun and laid on my back and made a spectacle of myself for this one ( in trouble with wife for dirtying beige linen slacks) Bob

Re: The ColasseumYou know what, it's hard to make an original image of such a popular and well known site, and I speak from experience, but that last image is just great! I love the fact that you only get a glimpse of the Colosseum, yet enough to know what we are looking at. The hoard of people also adds to the reality of this site, there is almost never anyone not around! Well done and kudos for going the extra mile to get the shot!

Re: The ColasseumLast one is a cracker! balance is great - the crowds are always there so, why bother trying to photograph withough them?
The selective colour works well here too
Re: The ColasseumI really like the wagon wheel shot, very good concept and execution! I don't think it even needs the selective colour to work.
Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
