After our sunrise shoot and some coffee and breakfast we headed out into some farm areas.

These paddocks had been growing wheat but had already been harvested.

hey Bob, it would be tops if you could elaborate on what kinda feedback your looking for - also including all your holiday images into one thread would really help and reduce the workload for the small number of members on here providing critique, i for one would be more inclined to look and comment.

Onto the image, its a nice classic, cliche composition with the road leading down to the next villa, i saw some almost identical images from my sister who was over there a couple of weeks ago. The Processing on this image needs a bit more work before being plonked in the photo-book, i find the image a bit too contrasty for the scene which is particularly noticeable on the hills and where the smog/mist/haze is, this has become dirty rather than just foggy if that makes sense, dialling back the contrast will return some of that haze which i think would suit this scene. Haze is a natural part of this landscape ;)

There is also quite a noticeable amount of noise in the sky which could be due to processing? in anycase a selectively de-noising this area would make for a much better image in my eyes. Is the noise evident in the full res version?

The position of the bush on the left works well as a element but it could equally have been removed with a couple of steps forward and preserving the line of the harvested field on the left.

hth.

and remember to critique other members images here and abroad...

Gerry,

I have no wish is general to limit the scope of any critique/ feedback and if I should have a particular question in relation to any image I'll certainly make that known. I will be months going through my raw files from this trip and my posting of chosen images will be a bit ad hoc as I progress. Images will be grouped where it makes sense and I certainly don't expect you to comment on every image/post.

I used a polariser for this image and that in part explains the contrast. As mentioned in other threads we did experience a lot of haze.
Having said that, I did something else to the image and you have a good eye to have picked this up.
Normally I don't sharpen my images for the web apart from Using the Marc Adamus method.
I also use Pixel Genius's PhotoKit Sharpener when sharpening for print. In this case I used one of the HazeCutter brushes in the creative area of this plug-in just to see how it worked in the distant haze and sky of the image. Two things are apparent the noise in the sky is sharpening/hazecutter related as is the contrast in the distance.

On refection, acceptance of the haze may have been a better option. You can see a similar discussion in reverse with Remorhaz in my Positano thread.

Appreciate your comments.

Howdi Bob,
It's a nice image mate but looks a little HDR to me.
The reality of the vista seems to be lost with/by the processing. Just my opinion. I prefer less is more.
