Here are some of my images from the Sculpture By the Sea meet last Thursday. Hopefully with a little C&C I might be able to bridge the gap between my images and some of the previous humbling images from the same event:

I do like your interesting composition for #1 - well seen

#2 is not quite doing it for me - I laughed when I saw the actual piece but in this instance your view has almost elevated the size of the tiny sign and shrunk the large if you know what I mean. The impact is still there and it's probably better for those who havn't seen the thing in real life.

#3 - nice - was hard to find decent compositions which included the moon - it's maybe a pity that you havn't been able to retain detail in the moon itself - perhaps two shots (this one plus one just exposed for the moon itself) and then blend?

#3 is great. I dont think you need detail in the moon. Your eye wont make out that detail on most nights, so it really does make you feel like you have captured what you can see.

Sorry I missed ya on thursay Gary, looks like you had a good time. I reckon these 3 are up to scratch, the first could be a fraction wider just to include the ears on the top, othe rthan that it looks tidy.

The second is making somethign boring somewhat more interesting with the use of some selective dof and angle. I think a variation in teh composition may have helped here, it currently feels disjointed, I love angles and images on angles - possibly pushing the angle furthe ron this one may have made for a stronger composition. ie rotate the camera more CCW, thus bringing that little sign further into the corner of the image and making the viewer run thru the image better.

I do like the third, simple composition, yet has enough well placed elements to holds one's interest. That moon needs some distortion control though, wonky assed looking thing it is

Gary, these are great examples of making the most of the situation where you didn't strictly have control of the light.

#1 is a nice tight compo which suits. I am not too fussed about the ear getting cut off.

#2 Very nice angle here as well. Took me while to figure out which was the sculpture. It's nice to have included a distant figure in this composition. This style is pretty cool I reckon.

#3 Brilliant spotting here. I am a little disturbed by the bokeh which looks wonky. I guess I want to know the technical reason for this wonkiness.... I think it's worth seeing whether adding a little detail if possible to the moon would making it stronger. I would have considered moving half a step to the left to include that dogs head seperate from the boys leg.
