I'd love some C&C on the last 2 especially. Flash is something I want to use more of and I'm really keen to learn more about it.

sheesh Adam, that second last one is da bomb. He has to be happy with that, perfect compo - the only issue I can see is the front whell looks distorted, possibly two steps back and a slightly longer focal length may have helped here?

lighting is on the money, nothing to suggest here, i assume two lights with one softbox?

The pose on 3 is good, however did you try some other combos, ie, right hand on knee etc, i am cluching at straws to find somethign wrong with that one

The last one is good, not as good as the 3rd, this is mainly due to the flat nature of the composition, however your hair/back light does help make the bike and dude pop from teh BG.

The first two light painted ones are up to your usual high standard, if I ever do a bike, I will know who to ask for tips I would like to see a 3/4 compo on the first image style.

Not a bad bike either..if your into that kinda thing

Thanks Gerry. I can probably fix the distortion. I use it with my car photos. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Two lights. A bare 430exII for fill and rim with a 580exII and a reflective 43" umbrella.
I found I really needed the second light. It was out of action for awhile due to a dodgy set of batteries (lesson learnt there) and the umbrella just couldn't cover the whole rider and the bike.

There's a few more in the set. All similar really. I was concentrating on trying to get the lighting right so I just told the guy to make small pose changes every time the flash fired. I still need more confidence with my gear and with given direction.

I'm a fan on back lighting. I think it really adds something, and it's easy to set up.

I found this bike a bit harder than the road bikes I've done in the past due to all the chrome and fiddly little bits and pieces. It took me about 10 attempts to nail the shot of the badge on the fuel tank.

I like two and three. Unfortunately, I don't
use the flash often enough to know how
to use it properly, so it's better I don't offer
any advice.

Love the sky in this one - nicely underexposed and ominous (and blue - did you gel for this and slightly tungsten the white balance?). There's a little haloing in this one tho which I find a little distracting (but I'd be over the moon if I could have lit this anywhere as well as this ).

Ditto as with Gerry - I'd love to practice some lighting like this one day (might have to get my second flash (SB600) fixed so I can do a two light setup).

The sky is all natural. There was a lot of storm clouds rolling in and combined with the twilight light is just produced that colour. I used 'cloudy' WB for the shot. The blue in the sky has probably been lifted a tad in the post production. I'll post an unedited version tonight.

I noticed the halo around the rider too. At first I couldn't figure out what it was and then realised it must be the light from the second flash.

1st and 3rd are on the money although the 3rd could be better if the right arm was angled down away from the chin. The fourth needs the backfill light dialing down. The highlights around the face profile distract, as does the highlighting that has illuminated the inside of his right arm. The profile of the guys back also looks strange as it is rather angular. For an improved 'biker' look, next time the guy needs some black leather boots.
