Hey All!

Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas to all! (: hopefully we've all been good little boys and girls with safe celebrations and plenty aslumber !

Well, here is my first post in a while.. I took these up central coast with a trust Sony A900 kitted up with a Zeiss setup consisting of the 16-35 2.8, 24-70 2.8 and the glorious 135 f1.8.. hit my sweet spots all over!

The images below are pretty much straight out of camera, minus some crop and drop into frames.

A cokin ND4 grad was the only filter I used and I must admit, I'm blown away. Took some similar shots with my 1D Mark IV and the comparison is astonishing for jpgs.

Let me know what you all think, I'm keen to hear from all of you!

Have a great New Years! And cheers to the mayan's being wrong this year!

Nice work on these, you could have done with a stronger filter for some of them (looking at #2 and #3 where a reverse ND8 grad would have been interesting).

First impressions:

1) can't get past the black border
2) spent too much time reading inspirational quotes rather than lookign at the pictures..
3) Finally found the pictures! the colour cast is very cokin style, it can, and in some ways does here, add to teh overall scene. Cameron has made a good point that a stronger filter would have helped, or taking teh shot earlier in teh morning when there was less dynamic range.
4) The first has teh most potential in my mind, with a little processing, and I mean, just a little bit, you could turn it from a run of teh mill shot to something I would take a second look at.

#1 is my fav and it looks like it could have been a candidate for some ten stop action (cloud movement?). I like the glow on the sand at the bottom and that lead in from the bottom left corner - you may even be able to loose a bit at the top of the image and darken down the rest down to the horizon?

There appears to be a very strong colour cast but I think I don't mind it; I'm not much of a fan of the huge black borders - which may be a little strange because I quite like prints matted (with black even) but I'm not a fan of them with images online

It's just a minor picky thing but in the first two I get the feeling they tilt ever so slightly to the right
