Trying out my new toys. This photo was shot with the 70-200 set at 200 with the Sigma 2x teleconverter giving a total of 600mm equivalent. Tungsten lighting, 6 seconds at f/16, on a Manfrotto tripod, iso 200 in RAW. PP included adjusting white balance and levels plus some USM.
Let me know what you think.

Chis,
Very nice and tack sharp with TC, have you ever tried it handholding with slower shutter speed?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris, well looks good to me mate and with a 2x sigma tc as well. Ok this seems to work ok and well not sure where you got the tc from but yeh i am going to get this lens soon, but was thinking of the Kenko 300 pro tc. I cant see any probs with this pic. Dont know if you have another camera but whats the chance of a pic of the D70 with that lens on?
Cheers mate.

Mate that bloke would look like Tom Cruise if he was shot through a Nikon
Great quality especially with your 2X TC

John - I only have one body (camera that is) but I am going to a mini meet this coming saturday at Birddog’s so I will get someone to get a shot for you.
Glen - that is Tom, in disguise.

Thanks Chris, I intend to use mine at the track so low shutter speed is no big deal for me, but would be ok to see it mounted. Thanks for that.
cheers

Set him up to watch Survivor. He was out within 12 seconds

Wash your mouth out with soap (and ENJOY it) you're a card carrying Sigma owner - have some self respect.

Don’t apologise Fozzie - with the new beastie I can see the need more than ever for portability - ah well, as we discussed it’s only money and you can’t take it with you so enjoy this life

I must admit the setup was light and strong. You may want to take your new acquisitions (Sigma 70-200 + TC x2) to the next 'Mini Meet' at Birddog's and test it out
.
BTW: the carry bag does not come with the tripod.

Fozzie, which Gitzo do you have? Sounds like you have a RRS 55 ballhead, if so what do you think of it in use? Does it mate well with your Gitzo?

BBJ,
I do recall a guy was selling a new Kenko 300 pro 1.4X on Ebay recently because it wouldnt work with his Sigma 70-200. (autofocus I think)
He was selling it to buy a sigma TC.
May be worth checking it out before committing your hard earned.

Very cool shot, Chris! Looks like the lens is sharp and capable. I wish you many more to come.
Now you need to start looking at the Bigma!

Tried some shots this morning with the combo and I need to improve my tripod. Of 6 shots all have movement blur due to vibration within the tripod system. Looks like I will be going to a ball head

Bigma does not have big demand here! if I'm not wrong just about 2 or 3 members got it while the number of owners of the Nikon 80-400VR exceeded 10 or more, same as Sigma 70-200HSM with Nikon 70-200VR

Can I talk you in the tripod and head and bracket and lens plate on this coming Saturday at the mini meet? It's a long winding road.

Chris,
Open a bottle of red wine, let it breathe for awhile: 5 minutes, have a couple of glasses, then pickup your D70 with Sigma 70-200 and use hand held, no shaking like the tripod
. If you are feeling game, place on the Sigma TC x2 and let it rip.
