You live in a display home neighbourhood?! (it kinda looks like it) ;)

Anyways, it's surreal. I have an appreciation of how difficult it is to capture lightning... Also, I think we're seeing evidence of bunnies in that pic. No not the easter bunny, the dust kind (on your CCD).

Nothing like a lightning pic to satisfy this stormygirl!

Very nice! I've forgotten what lightning looks like....it's been sooo long!

Do you have any others out of the 200 you took??

I like :)

The pic has an interesting feel to it, almost like it's a picture of a model town with a false background! Don't worry, lightning is really difficult to get well, and having two or three shots out of 200 with a strike on it isn't unusual. You've done well :)

I won't bore you with my lightning story!

Great, coolbeer6!

Did you point and press the shutter when you saw lightning? Or did you leave the shutter open for a while and close it once you saw the lightning?

I'm just curious! Lightning is very hard to photograph, but I am aware of a few sites with tips on photographing it successfully! A lot depends on the distance from the lightning, and these look pretty darn close! So, great captures! Good luck tonight.....can you send some Melbourne's way?

Stormygirl -- i had it set to aperture priority i think the last setting was 8 ,
exposure compensation -2 ish , trypod aim where the lightning is more fequent and shoot - ( and hope that it striks while timing out on the shutter speed ) ,, drink some more beer and take the next shot , repeat if nessisary .. i found if u shoot during the strike it is under exposed to the point of a black screen ... the last pic has not been edited apart from down-sizing , with the kit lenz

Fabulous! I'm itching to take photos of lightning, but there is a distinct lack of it here ATM!

Keep it up, looking forward to seeing more! Just be carefull with the beer consumption that you don't accidently knock over the tripod!

If you do this, you will end up with a blank picture. Lightning is way too fast for human reactions.
Setup on a tripod, get a longish shutter speed, and hope :)
