This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Daiquiris, dips, damsels and dust.

Is what you get at bush Picnic Races, both on and off the track. Our local, annual picnic races were held yesterday and as usual, it was a big social event with the races taking a back seat to lots of delicious food, drink and serious socialising. Both males and females dressing to the nines was the order of the day and with many entries in the Fashions in the Field. But for now, just the dust and daring.

With preference given to shooting the social events, I only had time to grab a couple of races. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Strangely, there was an a small, localised dust storm following the horses around the track and swallowing up those not fast enough to outrun it. Luckily, the direction of the slight breeze was favourable to the spectator areas, avoiding dust on the dumplings.

There certainly IS an incentive to not be coming at the back of the pack - in fact you wouldn't want to be anything other than first...

I like that!

Now that I look the last one again, it's
also quite a good composition considering
it is an action shot and the speed the
subjects pass by. Good work!

Hi

I like them all and I particularly like the fact that you can spell Daiquiris.

Can spell it but not drink it, only coke when I'm working. But a drink or two could help reduce camera shake. User image stabilisation? 8)
