It was great to catch up with all you guys (and gal) - a very enjoyable evening eating, talking and shooting - even Cam's 1000mm+ Nikon J1 and only wish I'd gotten more time to try out the D800

Comments and suggestions welcome...

Pre Sunset with 10 Stop ND and a 0.9 GND filters pointing towards the setting sun



During sunset pointing away from the sun (towards the Opera House and the coathanger) again with 10 Stop ND and a 0.9 GND filters - a three and a half minute exposure to get some interesting water and sky effects - my favourite shot of the evening



Which unfortunately meant I missed most of sunset in the other direction - here's the trailing edge



and lastly back towards Luna Park, SHB and SOH for the obligatory twilight long exposure

I am simply loving the big stopper action!

#2 I would brighten the top half by half a stop and mark it to keep... The creamy tones and nice combined with the pastel colors and the familiar sight.

The rest is meh. I am not too excited about the inclusion of the stoney pavement which has icky texture and clashes.

Nice shots Rodney, i like the second one, buts no surprise - i think the slightly wider composition works well here but on the flip side the eye does not know whether to concentrate on the sky or the foreground, possibly cropping some sky would balance it out more.

I like the 3rd one best. Lovely colours
and well framed.

Yes but it's making me want the "real" BigStopper now...

Thanks Suren - I tried half a stop but found it too much (settled on a quarter )

- hard to find something to do with the edge wall other than completely exclude it and have nothing at the bottom or try and incorporate somehow. I was kinda happy with it in #3 (although I MUCH prefer Gerry's shot in this instance). With #4 how about a pano crop of the top half?

Yeah... - I'm not sure - me personally I liked the action that was going on in the sky the best...
