Yesterday in Brisbane there was a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea. Dignitaries from Australia and the USA spoke, there was a battle of the bands between the RAN and USN, and finally there was a flyover of two aeroplanes from the era.

Apparently the US plane on the left is a T-6 Texan, and the one on the right is an Australian Wirraway. The Wirraway was built here to the same specs as the T-6. They certainly look like they came from the same litter, don't they?

I'm happy with the image except that the shutter speed was a tad too fast - I would have liked those props to be spinning rather than just slightly blurred.

Yep - nice image and agree about the props but I don't think I'd subtract too many points for that Only 130mm on FX - they must have been quite low?

They did three passes at 500 feet. Quite a sight.

Nice stuff Trevor, good compo with teh placement of the aircraft within the frame, nice angle showing teh underside, i lie it - perhaps a tighter crop? has it been cropped at all yet?

Regards shutter, better to have a usuable shot than none at all - if you have time practice for the 1/160 speed but otherwise, imo, nail it.

Commonly referred to as the Harvard too from memory, they are great machines.

Yes, the Harvard is from the same family.

The image has been cropped slightly. I resisted the urge to crop more because of the lack of motion. If the props were a circular blur, I probably would have cropped more because it is obvious to the viewer that the planes are in motion. With only having a slight blur, I felt that I wanted a bit more space around them so that you could tell they were actually flying.
