Somebody previously mentioned about Europeans not smiling or being happy, so thought I'd post some up of at least some moments of joy. These were all in Krakow, Poland. Given the horrendous situation they've been in during the early to late 1900s (stuck between a rock and a hard place doesn't begin to describe it enough), one would forgive them for being passive and spiteful but it doesn't mean I'd condone it.

#4 almost makes it but I'm unsure about the tall building in the distance on the right - I'm expecting it to be oof but it almost looks like it's moving (camera movement) but the foreground is sharp so I can't reconcile it in my mind. Perhaps also a pano crop of the middle (loosing top third and bottom 15-20%)?

if happiness and joy is what your tryign to portray, then in this case, for me, its the opposite (at least in teh initial take), it takes a few looks to try and draw out some happiness, the one with the girl/boy and the rose hugging thats a good example, initial look does not smack me with happiness, however upon closer inspection, the little rose changes the whole dynamic, the BW, in this case does little for me to enhance it - i do however like this shot.

The last shot is a bit confusing to teh eye, the couple walking seem to be the main focal point, but my eyes are jarred away from the OOF on them and sent bouncing off the pillar to find the boys and thus the happiness, again in this image, the joy is not immediately evident.
