Low light photography

The low light capabilities of the D700 have astounded me. It shouldn't as I have heard it all before in reviews and after all by now it is regarded as an 'old' camera.

This first shot was taken in Brisbane last weekend while strolling along Southbank with the kids and my better half. 50mm f1.8 @f4, 1/40s, ISO3200, handheld.

This shot was taken while taking a ride on the Brisbane Wheel and through the glass(?) of the cabin. No polarizer, 50mm f1.8 @f3.5, 1/30s, ISO3200, handheld.

And the last, again taken through the window of the cabin. No polarizer, 50mm f1.8 @f3.5, 1/40s, ISO640, handheld.

Yep these camera's are getting pretty amazing - I felt the same way when I got the D7000 - basically usable shots at high ISO (I'm often taking indoor low light photos trading ISO for faster shutter speeds at kids events (even at wide apertures) - I've got lots of shots in the ISO 2000 to 6400 range which with a touch of LR noise reduction are easily clean enough for printing)

Very nice pics. I like the colour and framing.
