Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsI am interested in thoughts on the Triptych image, once again little or no thought was used in the taking of teh images for purpose of a triptych, however the 3 images have been selected to show a couple of features of the location, Indian Head. plus a few extras just to fill up the page

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsThe boot image is great! (do I sound like a computer geek?)
Very evocative and well executed. If anything I'd tackle the slight magenta cast. I suppose the light falling through the green canopy threw off the auto-WB somewhat. Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsThe Triptych has no cohesive connection. The middle image lets it down - the boot, just brilliant

Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootswot Chris said... the three images could easily be of three entirely separate places yet are similar compositions... nothing ties them together.
A standard marketing approach is often to show a series (let's say three) shots showing completely different aspects of a locale... e.g. beach, rainforest... and... shopping (of course). From a marketing perspective that can work... it usually has little artistic merit though. Each individual image is fine... treat them that way. p.s. love the boot too... an interesting topic of conversation one day... why does photography lend itself and seem to always gravitate to the old and rustic. Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsAgree with all the comments and the boot does look great.
Is that old and rustic subject or old and rustic photographer? Craig

Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsHi Gerry - for me they aren't different enough or not similar enough if you know what I mean. It's probably that centre image which jars most (coming from the similar enough philosophy)
.. and just read the other comments and it looks like it's been covered still if I was going to "join" these images I think the left needs to be warmer (all over) and the middle much warmer again (at least the bit below the horizon) D600, D7000, Nikon/Sigma/Tamron Lenses, Nikon Flashes, Sirui/Manfrotto/Benro Sticks

Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsThanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.
Thanks Steffen, i think i am having issues with my monitor atm, i seem to be coping alot of that magenta cast in my images lately.
cheers Chris/Gary/Mj, trying to get good landscape/seascape triptychs is something that I find quite hard, possibly due to a lack of any forethought for it at the time and only considering it after the fact. With regards to this one, I think it probably be one that has more meaning for me since I have been there - now note, thats pretty useless for any one else viewing it though! The view from teh triptych is basically a 180 degree view of the spot, that for me, is the only common factor but again pretty meaningless for peeps who have not been there..
fair enough, i found them all to be be a bit 'meh'
hmm, did not even think of that, i thought they looked pretty well balance, however my monitor atm resembles the quality of a 80's coke bottle cheers, Rodney et al.
hey thats my old boot and it was not that long ago it was on my foot gerry's photography journey

Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsYou weren't standing in the stream for long enough if your boot is looking like that!!

You mean he WAS standing for too long... Tritych > Not tickling my fancy buds. Each image (when seen large) may have merit although not sure about middle one.
Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old bootsBeautiful pictures. I think I prefer also the
one with the boot. It has some quirkiness about it.
Re: Indian Head Triptych and Old boots
If he was standing in the moving water there wouldn't be that sort of growth! Cameron
