Another Puddy-Tat

This goes to show that sometimes animals DO cooperate. I took SnowBoots and placed her on a little table with a black velvet backdrop. She stayed awhile, got comfortable and tried many different positions. If you shoot enough frames you eventually get some keepers. Afterwards I rewarded her with a nice meaty dinner.

Lighting was SB-800 with diffuser off camera with SC-29 cord. Some may find the area on the right side superfluous, but I kind of think it adds some balance. What I like about it is the contrast between the sharpness and softness. Picture comments most welcome. (No cat calls, please.)

I haven't attempted to photograph my pussy (cat) with the D70 yet. She is a beautiful chocolate brown colour, and I'm sure if I tried, she'd be smooching the lens the whole time. Cat slobber and lenses don't mix!!

A beautiful cat you have there, Steve, and a very nicely composed shot. I think grey cats are fabulous!

(Snow Boots is a wonderful name, mine is Sambucca!)

Great shot Steve, I love a cat photo (our cat is a substitute for children, totally by choice, but you get the idea)

Nicely executed, well lit, I like the balance too, no problem there. And a good name for a good looking cat.

Stormy, you are naughty. Mind you, there haven't been enough pussy gags since Are You Being Served finished. :D

How did I know you'd be the first to comment on my comment, Greg??

nice clean bg and a well behaved cat.
but i think you composition is ok but it make the cat look really fat(unless it really is of course). maybe shooting from a lower angle so that the rear and the head of the cat are aligned.

Seems nicely exposed, looks almost like a soft focus but with sharp details... I'd be tempted to see what it's like in portrait but good job with the flash... Lovely expression too...

Appreciate the comments!

Redline - Good point. The picture does exaggerate the body size, doesn't it?! I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. That's what makes this a helpful place.

Greg B.- Fortunately we are currently getting BBC America TV here in the US of A, so I am enjoying Mrs. E. Slocombe and the rest of the staff at Grace Bros. on a daily basis. British comedy rules!

StormyGirl - I'm sure that we'd all love to see some shots of your pussy(cat). As I said in the original post, if you shoot enough frames, your bound to get a few with decent expressions, focus, etc.

Thanks, all.
