Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Last night I was out and about, watching Vanessa Raspa and The Zombie Cats perform. A colleague of mine is a friend of Vanessa's and was taking some photos on her behalf, given the license to shoot, I took advantage and let loose with the D700 and my Micro Nikkor 105mm VR.

I love the texture of that smoke in #1 Cam - very nice (you might be able to crop out that person in the lower right or at least burn them down a bit)?

#3 is my next pick and even though (and perhaps because) it's mostly gone to black I like it

#4 not so much - there's eye contact but it looks unnatural I reckon and whilst I love bokeh, that orb is a bit much :)

Thanks Rodney....that orb isnt a bokeh artifact, the venue had a series of large lighting globes hanging at the back of the stage.

Number 2 and 3 are exceptional. Like Rodney, I think the last looks a little set up even thoguht it is likely to only be a chance shot.

Cameron, this series is superb. You must have found ya mojo!

#1 (especially) and #2 are looking super duper. I quite like the OOF head on the #1. You could even try BW of the first and see what you can come up with.

Thanks guys! I took home 200 odd frames and culled back to about 45 frames to keep. These are some of my favourites from the night. I will have a poke around with a mono version of #1, and some crop/burn of both #1 and #2 as well. If anyone wants to have a crack at processing please post it up!
