Cars...

My girls were dancing in the parade and on stage in the Willoughby Spring Fair over the weekend so I took my camera (of course).

The parade went well and the girls and the crowd had a great time...

I'd taken my new 85/1.8 for a spin (because it was small, light and fast); however whilst I was hovering there was also a small display of some classic cars near the performance stage where my girls were dancing so...

The 85 has a fairly long minimum focus distance (80cm) so it's not macro by any stretch of the imagination but I figured I'd try some more detailed shots rather than do something boring like a shot of the whole car. Here are a couple that I liked... Any thoughts - good, bad, indifferent?

I like the last 3 of these - is that yellow one a 57 Chev? The 600 image is very well composed.

#1...brilliant timing to capture a unique image. Brilliant!
And #4. All of the essential elements working together to make a strong, graphical statement.

Thanks Patrick - I'm afraid whilst I might photograph the cars I'm not actually very familiar with them so unfortunately I have no idea :)

Thanks Matt - I must have been on my game with the dancing - I got a few very well timed shots with the girls all synchronised in the air (not using spray and pray either)

By #4 I'm assuming and hoping you mean the 600 one?

Thanks Cam - it's a nice lens - but... it has horrible magenta chroma - which is easy to remove in Lightroom (just click the "Remove Chromatic Aberration" and drag the Magenta slider over a tick) - I might even have to setup a default import preset for this lens to do just that since it appears in just about every shot with any sort of strong back or side light.

Lovely details in the car pictures, but somehow
I prefer the bouncing girls. You captured enjoying
themselves.
