Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Cockatoo Art

A few weeks back now I had some free time (a rarity at present :( ) and managed to make it to Sydney Biennale at Cockatoo Island. I've finally complete processing my images and have a few below for your comments.

This first one was a wonderful, whimsical (and very popular) installation. For some reason the image on SmugMug is much darker than I see it in Lightroom:

I had a lot of issues deciding a treatment for the work below. I've now played with this so many times I'm not sure if this is awesome, crap or somewhere in between :?

Unlike the shot above this one has had minimal processing (principally a B & W conversion)

OK...I'm impressed. The quality of #1 just knocks me out...it's stunning. I like #2 and I think #3 is excellent. Nice to see you back. Question...were you working from a tripod??

Great to see some images Peter! I like what you have done with #2, I kept looking at different angles and completely neglected the front on shot.

Love all three. I would crop the bottom of number two, to remove the line of the path that cuts through the right lower half of the image.

I look at these a few times Peter and i really do like that second one - the processing is sweet and the desat works nicely, one aspect that would have made it 3 thumbs up would be a slight composition change - I would have liked to have seen the image taken perfectly perpendicular to the wall, at the moment it looks like you are off at a slight angle to the left, additionally a small crop from the bottom so that darker grass frame the image would have been a nice natural vignette to the frame.

Other than that I like the texture in the walls and that vine on the right is awesome.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

#1 is very funky cool - I love how it looks

#3 is also very interesting - I love how my mind just can't reconcile the two people and the "shadows" - very intriguing
