BW imagery is something I have always struggled with, here is one that I am relatively happy with that I am interested in other peoples opinions.

There is a great emotion in the image - very forboding, with the feeling of a full moon at nighttime.

However, I feel the shadows are a bit blocked up and over-powering.

Lovely stuff. Two options though, either crop the top off or increase the shadow detail in the side. There's a lot of contrast and drop to blacks which doesn't quite match the soft, silky appearance of the stream.

This is intriguing....I love the shadow cast over the stream, a bit more detail in those very solid shadows would be nice, and yes a trip off the top

exactly! :) liking those shadows of the branches on the water - was this at night or with a ten stop?

It is very dark on both the left and right sides - maybe a hint of detail would be nice

I'm also not real fond of the hint of yellow in the water

I also like the silken appearance of the stream, and the shadow cast by the branch. Very mystic. I do find the contrast a tad stark, but I'm not certain whether the image would work better with more shadow detail.

Cheers
Steffen.

I think you definitely need more shadow detail and I'm not sure about the branch hanging down. Probably remove it (with the assistance of Content Aware Phil) or at least hold back the highlights.

I think there is plenty of detail there to recover so I will have another shot and post another version with less black. However, I am mindful of not have a greyish monotone image, I always like nice contrasty blacks and whites, I am though, open to new avenues ;)

No yellow on my calibrated screen. No shark fins either.

Note that it is only a very faint tinge - it appears more on my macbook pro screen than my external monitor (where it's extremely faint). Kind of like a subtle tan toning which goes towards yellow. Could be a jpeg artifact?

That's definitely an improvement. Maybe a bit more would be even better, especially in the black zone in the middle. If possible. This is the sort of situation where combining multiple images can be useful.

Cheers Murray, I think it might get a bit noisy in there is I pull any more out. (don't take that outta context :) )

yes, I wish I had thought of multiple exposures :)
