Great tones, and sharpness and lighting. This is a really good picture. The hands in the mouth make it look interesting. That really is some lens. I sort of wish I could see a little detail in the hair, as well as some catchlight in the left eye. Otherwise it's perfect. Great job.

Great shot and personal treasure. Nice tones. Always hard to judge on our individual monitors, but t's just about right on mine.

I don't think I would change a thing except for the eye on the right side of the image, which looks like it might be hiding some useful detail that could be brought out with some careful PP work (hopefully it was shot in RAW). It might also be possible to fake a convincing catchlight for that eye using some manipulation or transform of the one on the opposite eye.

Either way, that one's a keepsake.

Fantastic picture! It really is great.

And my LCD displays it very well.

Thanks for the comments.
Thanks for pointing out the catchlight & hair. Now I realise why the shot was NQR. Sometimes don't see it after staring at a pic for too long.
Need fresh pair of eyes to look. I guess that's the advantage of this great forum.
I think I was a little too heavy handed on the curves. I've gone back to correct it & yes, Steve it was in RAW & edited as a layered TIF so correcting is a breeze. (Gotta love layers).

Joolz,

This is a very nice shot indeed, you should be very happy with this one.

What process did you use to get it to this stage ?

Wel done.

Mic.

Thanks Mic,

Shot in NEF & sent to PS from NC.
Channel mixer layer for BW.
Colour balance layer for sepia tone.
Curves layer to bump up contrast & tone.
Overlay mode layer for slight vignette.

Great photo indeed.

What part of the image did you focus onto ?
The reason I'm asking is that I feel that the hand is slightly more in focus than the face.
This may be my perception or you may have done deliberatly so.
I'm just curious.
Also I like the fact that this image is some BW but not sepia, it is ???

Cheers
