I assisted on a school music tour which one of my daughters attended (I was the resident photographer amongst other things).

On the last day of our trip we all went sandboarding at Stockton dunes at Anna Bay and we all - child or adult alike - had an outrageously good time. I'd never tried this before but after experiencing it I can highly recommend it.

We had bright sun and totally clear blue skies with some wind to temper the hot conditions. I decided to just take the D600 fitted with the 85/1.8G prime lens (I wasn't keen on either changing lenses or using a lens which could drag in a lot of sand) and I think it turned out to be the ideal choice.

My daughter leads the pack down the slopes...

It was tiring work trekking up the dunes in the deep sand but worth the exercise

Sounds sandy, i reckon you would be dragging out the sand from ya crack for hours if you fell off

I like the first image, the pano crop is nice and suits. The only improvement would be having your daughter closer, ie separated from the row of students on the horizon.

oh yeah, the walk back up the hill does not look fun either, where are the chair lifts good for teh calf muscles tho.

I love how there is a crisp line between the sand and awesome blue sky. Looks brilliant.

Actually sand in the crack wasn't really a problem for anyone wearing pants - the women I saw doing it in short skirts is another thing. Where I found lots of sand afterwards was in my scalp and having pockets full of sand

and actually thats pretty much as shot - I was bemoaning the fact at the time that I didn't have a polariser and I was also concerned about getting harsh shadows with the strong contrasty light. I couldn't see what the results were like at the time because it was so bright I could barely see the LCD (all I did was ensure I got a decent looking histogram at the start and just set and forget) but when I got them onto the computer (about 600 shots) they were all basically good to go SOOC - the sand acted as a nice reflector and the sky was nicely blue

Nice captures of the spills. It certainly looks like a lot of fun
