Sydney Through a 35/2...

A work colleague has lent me his 35mm f/2 (an older Nikon design) to try on my D600 (I currently have no wide angle lenses - the 50/1.4 being my current widest full frame lens I own).

I was inspired by some recent street photography images I'd seen and since I hadn't been out to shoot any street in many many months I figured I'd head out at lunchtime in the city to see what I could discover.

I got a lucky break in the lunchtime rush of people going in and out of this building and walkway...

This didn't quite work exactly as I'd planned but hopefully you can see where I was going with this...

Lovely stuff and I can see what you were trying to do for the last one. It was either, get the woman in the light and risk losing the composition with the other guy, or get the composition but miss the woman in the light.

Shooting with the 35mm is great. I never thought I would prefer it as I used to be a 50mm junkie. Now I find the 50 too long and feel more at home with the 35. Now where's that 28 :rotfl2:

#1 and the last one....seriously very bloody good images. The artist is breaking free and your skills deserve to be recognised. Beautiful work!

Great shots. Love the last the woman nearly got in to the right position but there are other elements which I find great such as the contrast of the curve and straight lines of the steps.

Thanks Wayne - I just (like about an hour ago) picked up a used 20/2.8D so I'll give that a try next week - I think Chris and I plan to do a little lunchtime street work - Chris you up for that?
