Fire & Star Trails

As I drove into town from the Jeep Cherokee shoot I noticed a big orange glow out towards my sisters property. I knew it could only be from a big fire, so I went out there to see if they were in danger.
Luckily the fire was a couple of valleys over and the wind was favourable to their location.
The sky was quite clear so I thought I'd try my hand at a quick (9 sec) time lapse with the idea to capture the fire and the stars in the nights sky...

Watch the above link in full screen mode at 720p to see the detail in the sky.
From those same photos I thought I'd try merging them into a star trails shot...
I'm reasonably happy with the star trails shot, but I'm not really a huge star trails fan. I prefer the shots that have lots of detail, but without the trails.
I enjoyed the time lapse. It was so easy to make in Lightroom. I'll definitely be trying time lapse again.
C & C appreciated as always.
