Merry Xmas... NOT!

So it's December again, which means my family wants photos of their kids for their Xmas card.

It's such hard work! Kids are hard to control, parents get frustrated at the kids and it can all go south pretty darn quickly.

So, here's a few shots that won't be making it onto the Xmas card, but I still really like and find quite funny due to the contrast between the two of them...

The Reindeer antlers had been thrown over the fence by now...

Here's a couple that I do like, but don't have any Xmas reference...

Adam, I really like the middle photo. The look on your boys face is classic and your daughter is showing us a future young lady and their inherent exibitionism

Adam,

Just because the lattermost two images don't have a Christmas reference embedded is no reason to not use them in Christmas cards; both of them are excellent images of kids, and especially so given the degree of difficulty one can experience in these types of shoots.

Of course, the fact that the young lady's face cannot be seen in image #3 probably excludes it from primary card duty, but that doesn't diminish the beauty of this photo; it's a great kids' portrait.

As is the last; if you can, that would be my my choice here.

There is a lovely technical quality to these images. The modelling on the faces reveal the form, a kind of 3D look... the lighting is exquisite and the control of the background is perfect. All sogns of a true professional.

Thanks Gary. I really like the whispering shot. It makes we wonder what they were talking about.

Thanks Matt. I'm learning about lighting at the moment and this was another chance for me to practice.
I've dabbled with lighting in the past, but only using ETTL and was never really satisfied. Now I've taken the leap into manual flash/camera control and don't find it nearly as daunting as I first thought it would be. Still so much more to learn, but I'm enjoying it, which is the main thing.

All are great Adam, my picks though are 2 & 3. In #2 the little lad could be thinking "Who does she think she is!"
