This morning I went on a Hot Air Balloon flight, it was supposed to be a 40th birthday gift for my beloved wife but with one thing and another the booking was made rather late - 6 1/2 years too late :!: I bit the bullet and made the booking without consulting the wife and gave her a card for xmas with a message saying up, up and away.

Now I don't like heights but found the experience very enjoyable and relaxing, the wife on the other hand gets very anxious about things where she is not in control and her mind runs off in all sorts of tangents and scenario's so much so that she upset's herself and the pleasure is quelled. That said she too enjoyed herself once we were airbourne.

The balloon we travelled in stood 30 meters high when fully inflated and the basket held 21 people including the pilot. Would I recommend the experience? Absolutely - we were in the air for 1 hour and after a bumpy landing had a very nice champagne breakfast at a winery/vineyard.

Here a few shots from the day.

#2 is a clear stand out for me. It's not a view normally seen from an outsider's POV. Only thing missing is a bit of flame action from the burner.

Yeah, #2 is just different enuf to be unique and against the blue sky it's brilliant. You controlled exposure to perfection.

Can I suggest (to whomever) that #2 is definite POTW material. Great shot from a unique perspective.

Ozi.

Thank you all for the kind comments. I do have other compositions of #2 and one or two with the flame visible, but the compo is not as strong and the flame being orange does not show up very well against the orange balloon.

Yep OK - #2 for me as well - although I do also like #3 - nice cloud action and I like the water
