Here are some of my misc December 2012 images, C&C required!!

Hi Cam

I quite like the composition of #1 and the laticelike way the water looks is excellent - thats the good - the bad I reckon the closer water either needs to be sharper or much blurrier - we're sort of in no mans land in the middle here

#2 is very interesting - I'm not sold on it yet but I think it's growing on me - I like the idea at least

#3 - nice pan and she is sharp where she needs to be but I think the pan needed to be faster or more likely the shutter slower as the background needed more pan action going on here

#4 - meh - in this case I don't think the spot of light (window or window reflection) doesn't really add the desired effect and almost just looks like it's blown out - you kinda wanted it to highlight the artist in the darkness but the whole scene is too well exposed and distracting

cam i really like the first, fabulous patterns in the water. but that splash of yellowy/ orange colour in the background ruins it imo. convert to mono and see how it looks.

mmm... I think Rodney has pretty much covered it and I agree with Chris on b&w for #1... you could also see if amping up the sharpening and a touch more contrast helps to make it pop a little more.

Thanks for your honesty, I agree with the sharpness of #1, but the patterns won me over.....I was shooting blind with my D700 + 35 1.4 held as close to the water as I dared for that shot, so I was in a sense being careful and not pushing my luck too much. There simply was too much light to get a slow enough shutter speed for #3, it was an overcast day and I was shut down as far as I could, It also didnt help that she was not moving very quickly. With #4 I will have a play with the exposure and see if I can bring it back and tone down the highlight a bit.

I actually liked the golden hues, but a mono is not hard to experiment with. Thanks

Don't worry Cam - I also liked that too

The second would work wonders with more contrast and b&w.

The composition of the fourth works well, however as what has already been covered, the exposure is too balanced that there are a lot of distractions. Keep an eye out for the people in the background as well. The artist wasn't going to be moving anytime soon in this image, watch for patterns with the passersby next time.

First three are great but it's #1 for me. Very nice interpretation of a common scene.
