Does this image work? Something about it that does not hit the mark with me, yet I still have a liking for it. If the horse was in profile It would be a lot stronger image, but I waited too long as it was and it was just not going to cooperate. We had a cool change yesterday and along with it some much needed rain and being located on the top of a mountain we had lots of mist/cloud cover to give the atmospheric conditions.

I agree that it doesn't quite hit the mark BUT I think I can see what you were aiming for and love the idea!

I agree Geoff, I think a little more of the left hand side and top, and a touch more contrast would help, or maybe even a colour version with those tweeks.
Ahhh, the moist misty weather is a welcome change from this dry sunny heat.

I'd go even further than what Craig is suggesting.
Crop from the left to place the horse in the bottom left hand third intersection.
Then crop the image square, removing the structure from the rh side completely.
Leave the other processing, conversion and contrast just as it is; the feel is there, but the overall image isn't quite right yet.

these crop suggestions defintiely sound good. This image is good, and yes yourr envisioned image would be stronger but you dont always get that

I'd just chop the structure out. It's a very nice image.

I don't mind the image how it is (crop and processing wise) - I don't think the horse itself is in a great position - needs more of a profile to make the more obvious horse silhouette work better.

Thanks all for the feedback, just what I was looking for. Here is a square crop as suggested by Gary with the horse on the lower left third intersection. I have also added a little more contrast. Any better?

I like the cropped version better. Even though I often favour low contrast B&W images myself....in this case I think if you can get a pure black somewhere in the image it may make it look even better. Perhaps the clumps of grass in the foreground?

I like the crop better and agree about the black grass.
