Went to Katoomba a couple of weekends ago to have a family lunch at the Golf Club for my fathers 90th birthday. He looks healthier than he really is but I do expect he will keep going for a good few years more. The old bugger has more hair and less grey than myself.

Comments on the treatment I have applied would be appreciated.

He does look very well preserved for his age, I really like the shot but I think toning down / dodging or cloning out the horizontal railing might remove an unwanted distraction.

There is too much vignette for my liking, but it is a great image of your father.

I didn't notice the railing until it was pointed out. I like it but it looks sad.

Lose the vignette. Your use of selective focus does the job of isolating the subject perfectly.

Thanks for the comments, I intend to have a photo book printed for him and this is what I am considering for the cover shot.
I will lose the vignette and tone down the rail.

A very powerful portrait. Lose the vignette on the right hand side but leave the left hand side as is. Tone down that rail. Then.....nothing else to do. Perfect!

Hey Craig, I pretty much agree with previous comments. Would also look good in a contrasty B&W version me thinks.

Thank you for all the advice.
I have asked my niece and nephew to provide me with some images of their children as they have been growing up as I do not many shots of my extended family because of always living too far away. Once I have some shots from them and I have gone through all of my old images, may have to scan a few, I will start on the book.
I will update when I have it near completion.
