1 is definately the best.

I kind of like the shadows in the 2nd on the beach but you could of done with more of the jetty in the shot. You've taken the shot looking down the jetty, whereas the 1st shot it goes from left to right and stops at the about 2/3s into the frame. Now go back there and try and capture the shot with the lighting of the 2nd but with the composition of the 1st :)

I actually really like the second one. It doesn't bother me that you can't see much of the jetty. I find the lines very appealing.

The jetty is a bit bent and twisted, piles are on an angle must have someting to do with wave action on the piles, I will have to shoot this during a storm, could be good, here are 2 more pix........

1 and 2 are fantastic, 3 less so for me, but I really like the first two. :)

Love them all Big Pix but the shadows on Number 2 are particularly appealing. I can't offer any technical advice - it's way out of my league!

4th and 5th are WOW!

Love the lighting, love the shadows....frame them.

4th is my favorite particularly for the starburst effect on the sun. Maybe some cloning to remove the chromatic aberation (is that what it is?)?

Very cool stuff, big pix. #2 is my fav, with #5 & 1 very close 2nd. #4 would also be there if the flare wasn't into the shadows. :)

The first is definately my favorite.
I love the water and sky colour and the sun reflection on the water.
Also the composition appeals to me the most.

All are very cool. 1st is very nice but I feel like I've seen it before. #2 is great (the best IMo) because the shadows are unique and you focused on the shadows and let that thing loom large but not prominent. Great job on this one.

Wow there is a lot of compression on these pics. I'm seeing huge artefacts. Thanks

I guess #1 is my favourite, mainly for the reason I mention below, and I would have loved some of the colours/shadows in the other shots, combined with framing more similar to the first shot (unfeasable with some, I realise).

I really like the way the first one has a pillar running down the LHS of the frame - it seems to really "anchor" the jetty in the picture, whereas the others (while great) have the jetty just disappearing off the top of the frame... for some reason, that framing isn't as appealing to me.

But lovely shots all the same. I so am not a morning person, so I respect anyone who can get out of bed early enough to catch sunrises!!

G'day,
No critique, just wanted to say that I loved these images, very moving, terrific light, heaps of "ambience"... The morning is the best time of the day by far I reckon...

Simply beautiful images... Thanks for sharing...

Cheers.

Thank you for all the kind comments ............ you all make an old man try a little harder, and to keep on shooting, as the images on this site are some of the best I have ever seen. I hope I help with my comments as I try to get people to think out of the square

Thankyou

Bix pix.

The best way to develop and grow is to have access to the wisdom & experience of others. As part of this community your role is valued both in terms of the images posted (as is the case with those here - my favourite BTW is the second because of its different take) and from the critiques you offer (your recent commentary on MHDs sunset pic of Black Mountain tower comes to mind).

So, to be succinct, thanks for sharing images like these and critiquing the work of others - may you keep doing both for a long time to come :)
