Above the Fog - With NIK - Edited ImageI turned off the main road on the way to work the other morning to grab a quick 6 shot hand held pano of the Glass House Mountains. Not sure if I like the power lines in the shot, any opinions?
I also decided to download a trial of the Nik software to see what it offers, here are three versions, pretty easy to use software but not sure if it is worth the money or if I should just stick to LR4. Last edited by CraigVTR on Thu May 09, 2013 1:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Above the Fog - With NIKEvery photographer should carry a pair of wirecutters in his kit. They are indispensable. Your only other option would have been to use a 500mm lens and just frame the peak with a bit of mist about it. Perhaps that hill to the right might be a good POV next time if you can catch the atmospherics again?

Re: Above the Fog - With NIK... or maybe a mortar to blow away the poles so you are left with a nice peaceful landscape ...
... apart from the smoke rising from where the holes used to be, the tangled lines on the grounds, the people racing out of their homes waving their arms in the air and the police helicopters ....
Re: Above the Fog - With NIK
But you'd have maybe ten minutes or so before they started to arrive. g.

Re: Above the Fog - With NIKFor me the power lines are a big distraction. Of the three I prefer the middle and like the use of what I assume is one of the Nik grad filters. For me I use LR, PS and Nik. I wouldn't be without the latter - not because what it does can't be done with LR or PS (clearly they can), but because it's much quicker. Plus you can layer the effects in PS

Re: Above the Fog - With NIKThanks for all the comments guys. I could have gone further up the road where there are no power lines but did not have the extra time to spare or I would have been late for work.
I will have to trow a pair of heavy duty wire cutters and a mortar kit into my bag for next time, might have to throw out the chainsaw to make room. May have to see if I can clone the power lines out. I have played with a few other shots today in the Nik software and it does seem to be a worthwhile addition. Craig

Re: Above the Fog - With NIKUnfortunately, those wires are a big obsticle; otherwise, it is
a great panoramic view. I also prefer the middle one. The only thing that could enhance the view is the clone tool and a careful removal of the wires. Yes, I know they part of the scene.
Re: Above the Fog - With NIKI agree about the power lines.....I prefer the monochrome though

Re: Above the Fog - With NIK - Edited ImageAfter everyone's comments about the power lines I put in a call to Energex and they have now removed them. Apparently they used something called LR5 Beta.
