Be interested in your thoughts on this one - composition, processing, crop, overall feel, etc

To be perfectly honest Rodney I feel that the main interest is rather lost with everything else going on in the pic. Maybe it needs to be lightened a bit - just my thoughts

My only gripe... A bit too much to the right, maybe crop back to the next tree..

Very interesting. I like it. But I feel it needs a bit more detail out to the left else the right distant background its in danger of seeming superfluous.

I too fell it needs to be lightened just a little and crop some off the bottom and right. It is very hard to tell from a small shot on the screen but I think if it was printed big on a wall it would look great.

Thanks Craig and that was what I was hoping - i.e. looks better big

... and I've made a few processing updates - mostly selectively adding a bit more light and detail into the image in various places so that we aren't crushing straight to black so much. I've also linked through to a much larger version where it's easier to see this type of image which has a lot of black in it....

I too agree that the edit looks so much better but I feel that the right hand side needs to be cropped back to eliminate the distant lights - just my thoughts

Much improved. I don't think cropping the right will help the balance but I think it would help to get rid of the three or four lights at the edge of the frame.

For me this image would only work if it was viewed very large. There is too much going on to take in viewing a small image, but much enlarged it would spring to life and reveal its real power. It is an excellent image...potentially, but only if much bigger.

Have to agree with the consensus and think that the edit is great. I am unsure if the lights in the background on the right add to the image and would try toning them down or cloning them out altogether.

The second version is an improvement. And yes, it is
one of those pictures that cries for a very large size
canvas so further cropping would diminish the whole.
