These are superb. Absolutely superb.
I can't speak highly enough about the first, it's probably the best air show photo I've ever seen. I for one would be very interested to see more.

That first one is simply breathtaking.

Print it big.

It should surely be a very commercially viable image as well.

I can only echo the comments of others. These are outstanding. My son & grandson were at the air show. I will forward this link to them.

Truly wonderful photos.

I would like to add just one more comment. I have seen the 200-400VR in operation many times, and the results, and in my opinion this is one of the best lenses that Nikon has ever produced.

Hello Everyone

I am very humbled by your kind comments i have not posted online for quite some time and i am so glad i did it has really given me a boost when i need one so thank you all very much

The first shot was taken on the first day (trade day ) of Avalon this year, quite a gloomy dark day, with spots of rain ahhh Melbourne we knew the wall of fire would ignite and tried to position ourselves accordingly i took quite a few images in the sequence probably 20 + and got a few keepers one of which is here, i also got a couple when the flames subsided quickly with a very black background and although they are nice they don't have this images drama a friend i was shooting with was about 30feet from me and he got a couple similar , he posted one on Fenchcheck a site in USA and won pic of the month !! i tried to get similar shots for the next 5 days and failed so there ya go

I have bucketloads of the F22 doing its business so will post some more when i can

In regards to printing the image i have been requested by a few friends to do just that

In reference to the 200-400 comments well......... i love it, i have tried a 500mm and 400mm at times and almost changed to a 500mm but i am so used to how it works i just could not let go of the flexibility, the zoom is easy for me and the fact i can use a 1.7 converter and get shots like the above i think speaks volumes for it , i use it for water birds, car races etc and as i said i love it, indeed i took it with me to Europe, and Hong Kong on a trip for 4 months carried in a backpack ! its also been to the USA and even Tasmania

Am looking forward to taking it to the zoo with my new D800e

Once again thank you all

Cheers

Very professional work. Your skills are evident. That 200-400 beast is a wonderful lens but requires skill and commitment in order to make it sing. Are you using a Wimberly sidekick on a tripod or a monopod?
