A Joe McNally Moment...

For our fourth model shoot at the Google Plus Centennial Park PicANiK we had another impromptu guest model. This time we had a very flexible young lady who was a ballerina, dancer and trapeze artist - so we figured we've got all these Nikon speedlights, light stands, light modifiers and a lovely dancer so it was time to try and emulate (however poorly) the legendary Joe McNally.

What do you think - probably not worthy of a Joe McNally second look but I was pretty happy for my first attempt at this and a multi light setup...

Good capture, it reminds me of one we shoot
a few years back in the beach and the young model did something similar with a long piece
of fabric.
I feel the background in your picture has come
out a bit on the dark side.

The model capture is superb and the lighting on her is pretty good.

The background lets the shot down.

Thanks guys and I did purposely underexpose the background - we didn't have much to work with since we were just in the park so it was hard to find any clean backgrounds.

IMHO the background is not important as the main subject is beautifully illuminated and that’s what is important.

Thanks Chris - although it isn't quite as perfectly illuminated as I would have liked - however given the time and other constraints I'm happy :)
