From the Newtown photowalk when we went to the Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in the late afternoon just on sunset (fantastic light) and in the middle of the park lies this fantastic Newtown:Erskineville Anglican Church. The minister kindly gave us just a few minutes inside the church to take a few images - handheld with the Sigma 15mm fullframe fisheye

Do you prefer the colour or monochrome rendition?

This is a masterpiece of photography and architecture. The warmth of the wood and the blue highlights make this a memorable shot. Personally, I do not like the B&W as it loses the impact that the colour shot has.

gorgeous image. i'm impartial to the choice. I think they are both equally beautiful in their own way.
if really pressed, I would pick the mono.

when I look at the colour version, there is "coldness" in the tone.
Perhaps lack of people, perhaps the wood and/or the stone is dull and neeeds a lift to give it more life or warmth. A little play with the tone in the image may help.

or, it may be that it is an empty church from another age that you saw that day.

It is rare to see two different versions
of the same photo equally good.

After a long second look....something I do with images that make me catch my breath....I would suggest that if you have a single image of the centre red carpet without those visually disturbing shadows then you should overlay it. That, IMO would improve the image further. Also, have you considered emailing a copy of the image to the minister as thanks for allowing you to take the photograph? Just be sure that it is not too high re the resolution. :D :D

Cheers Ozi and Matt

Matt - I actually like the shadows on the carpet :) - but I'll see if if one of the single frames could be used to lessen it. I'd already emailed the images to the minister and offered the hires versions which he definitely wanted and I sent.
