Bush-walking early this morning

G'day all,
Got up early (06:30) to get out the back of Marysville (and later at Badger Creek, out the back of Healesville) to go bush-walking... Absolutely fantastic, drizzling rain made the forest come alive. Including the bloody leaches, strewth I HATE those things. I'm OK with spiders and snakes but HATE leaches... Had to stop 3 or 4 times to get the mongrels off... Yuk!!! Did I say I HATE leaches???

Anyway, all better now after a long hot shower, some of the tracks were storm damaged (the actual steps had fallen into the river, so you had to very carefully struggle around some trees etc) but a great morning's wander...

Anyway, just a couple from the trek... All with kit lens (AFS DX 18-70)

Share or critique... What-ever you're comfortable with... if you like bush then GET UP THERE, it's absolutely beautful...

Cheers,
Mudder

Andrew. I detest those slimy little black suckers too (pun intended!). If I go somwehere I think they are every little itch feels like there's a leech there (of course they never are)

I really like the first shot. The other too are a bit problematic. Contentwise they're ok, but I'd have liked both a little taller as I find the tree trunks with no canop distract me more from the ferns than I think the tree might.

Sure looks lie a pretty place - shame about the leeches :)

Geez I'm jealous of your greenery down there Mudder. Dare I say it...would you mind sending some rain up our way occasionally??!!

Lovely shots all. You have a real affinity with the forest. Methinks you're part elf.

Great pics AGAIN, Andrew. I hate those bally hanging on suckers as well. You gave to be careful how you get them off. You shouldn't pull the body off and leave the mouth in the skin.

Meicw

G'day Mic,
I couldn't help it, just had to get the bloody things off... I even had one in my hair that got onto my hand when I brushed my hands through my hair... I just about stripped when I got back to the car, tried to hide but I think a couple of people were watching from another car, so much fuss over such a little thing

My brother had one that he ripped off after it got it's mouth-part well into him and it went septic, yuk! Hope mine didn't leave their grubby little gobs in me

I've heard that you carry a small salt shaker and put salt on them to get them to retreat as it burns them... Must take some next time... Strewth I hate those little mongrels...

Cheers mate.
