The Rice Harvester...

Whilst riding down a country lane on our bike tour through the heart of Bali I saw this man out in his rice field tending his crop and had to stop and see if I could make some images. I stopped and smiled and motioned with my camera and he smiled in acceptance and gave me this pose so I moved in as close and as high as I could at the edge of the paddy with the longest end of the lens I had on at the time - I'm sure he's seen thousands of tourists ride by his fields :) but I was thankful he allowed this image...

Great candid Rodney. I've found usually that Asians are fairly accommodating when it comes to taking photos, unlike Europeans.

nice image of a buff old dude in the field Rodney. I like the slight pano format, the only suggestion i have is to dial back the vignettting a bit or even better make the overall size bigger such that is not so prominent in the bottom left corner where it appears very pronounced.

very ironic that he is a wearing a hat but not worried about his shirtless back :)

Really nice image which captures the feel of the island. This image is right up there with your 'mother' image from your bike ride.

Cheers Gerry - I went back and looked at the image and I hadn't added any vignetting - it's just that this particular lens appears to vignette quite a lot (even at 120mm) - here's the same image just with the LR5 lens auto correction turned on:

wow, even the 18-200mm does not vignette like that.

Nice classic island life image Rodney... good to see the vignetting is easily sorted when it's not wanted so it's not an issue for that lens then.

Rodney

Greta imasge and I like the composition. Like Gerry I'm put off a little by that vignetting. Can LR fix it?
