Just thought I would get some feedback from this mornings work. Many thanks to Gerry for getting out shooting.

Four very fine images but #3 is the standout for me. beautiful composition and impeccable technique.

The last one stands out for me Cameron - i told ya it was a sweet compo

The second image is quite nice too, the greenery did come up alright even tho it was in teh shadows.

The third has merit imo, however I think the eye gets drawn to the bright spot too quickly, thus detracting from the green goodness.

Three people and three different takes on the images! For me #1 and #4 (in that order) appeal most. #1 makes great use of leading lines and I like the "neat and in the middle" lighthouse plus what great colours. #4 the composition on this one makes the shot for me as well although it's a tad too dark on the extreme right. #3 has the least appeal for me - I feel like I need to peek around the corner to see the rest of the view (too much right and bottom for my tastes). Of course YMMV (eg see Matt's comment).

Thanks Matt, I did lift the shadows a touch and brought back the highlights (as much as I could without killing the shadows) in post. It was an image that I thought I could get a bit more out of and I thankfully kept.

Thanks Gerry, the moment I saw yours I knew it was a winner of a composition. As for #2, the shadow recovery of the D700 makes it a lot easier to bring back those greens. #3 is as good as my abilities can bring back (it was one of the challenge frames I kept) and I do know exactly what you mean by the distracting bright patch. It was a good morning and I would def be interested in the coming weeks...not too sure if I can make next week though, but keep me informed.

I have my issues with the centered lighthouse with #1, it is off putting but if I trim off the LHS I lose those slivers of pink cloud that act as another set of leading lines.... #4 is probably my favourite, I can try to lift the shadows on the RHS, at the moment it is essentially SOOC.

I think I like the last the best Cam - followed by the first (sucker for those colours maybe). I reckon in the first you could straighten the lighthouse so it isn't falling over to the right - I think it's an optical illusion but I think that lean makes it look like the left end of the horizon is lifting up too.

Thanks Rodney, sadly it is either a leaning lighthouse (in real life) or an optical illusion.

Here's another suggestion for #1. Next time Cameron, take some pliers and cut those pesky power lines down...

i find the clone/content aware tool is ahemm...well, how do i say, would at the very least keep ya outta goal

Cameron love the colours and leading lines in the first. Have been to that spot many times and have never seen it look so good.

Overall, I think I want to see more of the vista. I reckon wider angles would be more effective. Of course they will need to be viewed bigger and you will need to get a little closer to emphasise the light house.

Beautiful hues that morning. You guys got lucky.
