Hi Kerry,

This is a nice crisp scene (I love snow...) but is the horizon a little low to the right?

It seems that the building is not quite straight? This could be me though :?

Thanks for the coments, Woody. :) ummm, dunno if it's crooked or not. Prolly is if it looks that way to you. I can't decide, too tired to pop it into PSP to check.

Kerry - well executed shot, the tower looks straight to me. Would be interest to know what the building is. It reminds me of a shot tower used in the old days to form cannon balls by dropping them from a height.

Hmmm, must be my eyes then

Sorry about the comments if it is straight, and in that case excellent shot :D

heh, I hate to do this, but I put a straight edge on the windows of the facing wall, and it's as straight as can be. :o

The building is not square, the ground slopes down to the right and the trees are leaning to the right as well, so I suppose that it's just one of those optical illusions. :)

Anyway, thanks to both of you for the kind comments.

This is a memorial in one of Detroit's city parks. I don't recall the specifics of what it memorializes though, sorry. You can see the wrought iron fence around it, which is supposed to keep out the vandals, I suppose...

Kerry,

Nice shot, how does it look in B&W.

I've got a thing for it at the moment.

Mic.

Hi Mic,

Well, judge for yourself how it looks in B&W. 8) It's just a quickie, done from the small upload version, not the original.

I love it :D

Maybe a bit more contrast for my taste but I like it better than the colour.

Mic.

That Tower is great, love the design of it.

Thanks, Mic. :) Your comment about the contrast is rather humorous tho... After seeing the contrast in your surreal seascape, I put an extra bucket of contrast on this, figuring it still wouldn't be enuff for you.

Having a closer look I think your right :D

I think what threw my (and still does) is the trees leaning to the right in the middle. I was looking at them first then moving to the tower which then looked like it was leaning

Oh well, good to know it is staight, I am going to book a time with the optometrist

Yeh, it does look like that Tower out of LOTR's.
Thought I'd seen it somewhere before. Mooooorrrdorrrhhhhhh.

These are great, Kerry. Love the colour and the B&W. Looks like a beautiful place...particularly in the snow!

Thanks stormygirl. :) It can be pretty at times. The snow is almost over, for which I am quite grateful. :D

When I first looked at this I thought wow, that's sharp! But when you osted the B&W version that added a new dimension to the feel of the image... That's a good example of the difference B&W can make to the feel with the "right" image... Much prefer the B&W for this one...

Dunno if you need an optometrist... This image is a jumble of angles. On the left side is a lamp post, which also appears to be vertical to me, but everything else is anything but vertical or horizontal.

Another thing that I noticed, after looking at several of the images I shot of this building, is that having a curved screen instead of a flat screen, will change the verticals, depending on how square you are to the screen when viewing it. :?

Thanks, Andrew. :) I'm going to have to experiment with B&W more often, I think.
