Eating dinner tonight with some dear family friends, and their young tribe. The late afternoon was streaming through the restaurant window, and portraits became inevitable. Here's a few interpretations, colour are jpgs, BW are processed in Silver FX. Fuji XP1/35mm @ F1.4

First up, very cute kids indeed and very photogenic.

Now for the observations:

#1 Love the dreamy feel to this pic

#2 In my opinion this is a disaster :( It makes the little one look as if they are from a Chucky movie

#3 The mischievous eye contact is very endearing and makes for a great photo

#4 This one works on all levels

Actually Chris, I think comment #2 applies more to picture #4! The more I look at it, the less I like BW portraits! :)

Here's another interpretation:

I prefer the B&W images in both cases. They are great portraits and have been well converted.

the first image is absolutely gorgeous and I think your rework of it is spot on ! love the framing and her cute little smirk.

regarding the mono conversions, not sure what setting you used but these don't work at all for me. the filter used is not very good for skin tones and portraits, there is far too much structure, contrast and shadows.

I prefer 1 and 3, and I also like the last version
of the first in colour.
