Stunning images. You just have to love the macro world. La questioni....have they been cropped or are they full frame?

thank you matt. extension tubes were used to enable me to get so close.
the first is a portrait crop of a landscape orientation. the second is SOOC. in full size the compound eyes are crystal clear, its staggering how much detail the d800 is capable of extracting.

he barely moved for about 20minutes, I suspect he was drying his wings off and then buzzed off before I could try and get a few more angles.
and of course it wouldn't be possible without my ultra high grade and expensive lighting kit.

Totally and utterly envious of these brilliant shots. When I try this kind of shot the little buggers fly away (unless of course I super glue their perch :up: )
