Been quite a while but recently (Melbourne cup long weekend) the family and I went down to Point Nepean to visit a few of the historical spots down there. Came across the Eagles Nest and fell in love with the building. I hope you like the photo I took of it. Its now my desktop image.

I love the gnarled trees in the foreground. The house looks like a shore defence gun-pit.

Actually I like it as is. It looks more like
a military observation post.

Dis ist the haus of der fuhrer.

On a serious note, this is a simple and very effective shot from an angle that supports the title, the Eagles Nest.

Thanks guys for your comments, I'm sorry I haven't been on to reply. I've had two weddings and loads of family portraits i've had to finish off for clients. Good reason for the delay in my opinion!!

As to your comments, it was an observation tower that looked over the entry into port phillip bay region. It was a fascinating trip, my children were exhausted from the walk there and back (approx 6 km's). We will hopefully head back again but next time we will be a little more prepared footwear and clothes wise as none of us were really appropriately ready for such a walk. But it was worth it. Fascinating history that not many people know about. My son (autistic) continually talks about the man who died at the beach being an important man and proves it doesn't matter your age swimming at the beach should be done between the flags. (Harold Holt memorial was along the walk) - Funny a 7 year old can have such a deep understanding of the dangers of the beach!! extra special seeing he is a country boy!!

I have done a panoramic crop to the image but it looked odd and as if it needed a greater crop on the shrubs but once that was done the image lost its impact IMO.

But thanks for your kind comments. I do appreciate it. And I also think of Germany and the ww2 fortes etc.
