The ‘Walkie Talkie’ - The £500million development on Fenchurch Street in Central London.


City Hall (foreground) is the headquarters of the Greater London Authority, which comprises the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. It is located in Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames near Tower Bridge. The Shard is an 87-storey skyscraper which stands at 306 metres high most of the floors remain empty since the buildings completion in Nov 2012.

Nice photos Geoff. I was there last year, and the year before. Hopefully will fit in a quick visit again this April. London Tower is an amazing place to visit. Anywhere in the old town is great.

As an aside, are you planning on getting the 56mm? Also, what's your opinion on the 14mm? Is it as good as the reviews state?

It's hard to pick a best, they are all so different so I'm not going to
try. Yes, very nice photos and I like the B&W because allows you to
concentrate on the shapes and composition. I didn't realise the
English nicknamed their buildings. I wonder if you can spot
the "suppository" in the background.

I don't think one would ever tire of taking photos in London it's such a fascinating city.

I am not planning on getting the 56 as I already have the 60. That said it is no doubt going to be a stellar piece of glass and a also classic.

The 14 is an excellent lens and the reviews on the web are correct. I enjoy all of the primes but since purchasing the 23, it gets used most often and then followed by the 35 + 14 probably equally and then the 60.

that building too has a 'nickname' which is "The Gherkin"

City Hall is also known as 'The Beehive' or "The Armadillo" - both the Gherkin and the Beehive were designed by Sir Norman Foster.
