First Olympus portraits

I've been keen to put the E-M1 through it's paces, but there hasn't been much opportunity of late. I got to take a few photos of grandson #3 last night. Unfortunately and for some unfathomable reason, I had the image quality selected as jpg/very low res, so there's very little room for leeway in PP. I normally shoot Olympus RAW as the files are easy to work with, (unlike Fuji, where it's jpg all the way.)

All in all, the 12-40 lens does a very good job IMHO. The Olympus colours are good, if just a tad warm. The facial recognition focussing is reasonable but the eyes could be a tad sharper. Maybe the camera would do a better job if the baby stayed still, but this was impossible. They always say that only a madman photographs animals and kids...

Unfortunately this one was heavily cropped and it shows.

The last is a great capture of the little fella. I don't see any degradation due to the crop.

Good control of the background in those images. Glad you like the camera.

Nice all round camera indeed Matt. IQ is not quite in the class of the Fuji, so the XP1 will stay for important shoots (like my daughter's wedding in a couple of weeks). I can live with 12-40mm/Olympus and 35mm/Fuji combo.

The last one...definitely! But, I would crop the area on the right up to the shoulder.
