Rodney, you prolly know my thoughts about glass balls
however to go along with the excerise, here are my thoughts

The second image has the most impact for me and i think with a little tweakage it could be made to be quite a clever, if the size of the ball within the frame was similar to that of image 3 i think it would have more presence and impact within the frame, also putting it closer to the thirds intersection would be the real kicker, but obviously need alittle PS trickery - I think these work best when the ball provides a eye or window to the frame (big enough that it catches your eye first) and the OOF BG provides the follow on interest, it however needs to have substantial definition to be almost instantly recognized..

get me two of these and I have a concept for you

Ditto to Gerry's comments Rodney. I think #2 is striking, but the ball would look good as the theme of #3. (I'm not sure if I'm making sense here. Too many hours working makes the brain dull. Maybe it's dull already?)
